The Godley is a well located hotel with friendly and efficient staff. Breakfast was well catered and plentiful. Staff at both dinner and breakfast were most attentive.
The room we had was very cold and not at all welcoming. We had to ask for an extra heater as the panel heater was not working correctly. The lounge area had a great fire but you had to sit next to it to feel any benefit of the heat, otherwise the room was cold and draughty.
Position by lakes and restaurants. Value for money. As cheap as many packpacker doubles.
No smile from the receptionist as we came in Two minutes at least to acknowledge us though she was only looking at computor screen
location was okay
very old facilities, dated, worn out, should have been about half the price for the quality of the facility, TV reception tuning not good,
The location is definately one of its strong points.
Only having a double bed, instead of a queen. This is not ideal if you are staying there for a romantic weekend.
Only the location, close to beautiful Lake Tekapo
Our upstairs rooms led onto a smooth, plywood verandah (the only entrance to the rooms) which was slippery with ice and a huge gap in the railing where my young son almost slipped off towards certain injury. Electric blanket did not work. Two heaters were faulty. Bathroom was unclean Breakfast was terrible. Stale bread and the cheapest bacon and tomatoes the establishment could find.
It was warm and comfortable. The view was amazing. The chef was very helpful with my Gluten Free breakfast. Cooking me my own hash browns. You recommend it to others and would stay again.
The staff were extremely friendly and always willing to help (I even left some gear in the room and I was contacted twice on my mobile that day to fix the situation). There was an oustanding spa, the rooms were warm, clean and well-equipped for a weekend stay. The location in Tekapo is excellent; 1-5minutes walking distance from each eating facility and restaurant. My friend and I felt thoroughly rested before our trip on to Mount Cook. All this for $40 each ($80 for double room + single bed).
Nothing really. For someone wanting something a little more 'upmarket,' the basin in the bathroom was a bit cracked and could have been fixed. Maybe a change in wallpaper to something more 'modern.'
Dated rooms, average menu in restaurant. Whole place needs renovating
stepping back to the 70's decor , love the radio dials and the caperted areas
Location is good near small village and lakeside. Large rooms with many local people staying, giving it a friendly atmosphere
Staff was not very helpfull, check in could not be done before 4 P.M. for unclear reasons. Room was smelly and not well cleaned smelly (attempts to do so were probably the reason for late check in). The whole complex could do with some fresh look and furnitures.
Very ,very shabby, in need of paint, room dark and dingy, no window in room, threadbare carpet, bathroom very scruffy. A pity as a great location. Would not go back there.
Location is great. Staff very helpful and understanding.
The quality of accommodation in this hotel is well below average. We were thoroughly disappointed with the shabby rooms we were offered and horrified, as New Zealanders, to think this is what is being offered to our overseas visitors. Come on Godley owners spruce it up or pull it down and start again!
Comfortable, easy to find and extremely close to shops etc.
Woman on front desk was very rude at the start but warmed up over time. Rooms could do with a paint and patching of holes.
really really nice room with a view we went for the budget room and were really impressed with the cleanliness and services.
just a little disappointed that the breakfast was a different price to that quoted in hotel info but at least were advised and could make a decision.
room had a lovely view of a wall. didnt dine at hotel as menu didnt look inviting
